About Us
A Civil Engineering Company built around Experienced People
Ateb was founded in Caerphilly in January 2024 by people who had already spent years in groundworks, engineering, construction management and project delivery. Our leadership team brings more than 60 years of combined industry experience.
We started the business because we wanted to build the kind of groundworks company clients could get hold of, site teams could trust .
Why we started Ateb
Ateb means “answer” in Welsh. That name matters to us because it reflects the contractor we set out to be: practical, straight-talking, reply on and bring a proactive approach which delivers sites efficiently within budget.
From the start, direct employment was a big part of that. We wanted our own people on site, backed by supervisors, engineers, commercial support and managers who know each other and understand how the project fits together.
For clients, that means clearer communication and fewer loose ends. For our team, it means proper support, better training and a business that’s serious about helping people develop..
From a 2024 start to over 40 employees
Since launch, Ateb has grown to over 40 employees and worked on more than 30 projects. Individual contract values have reached £2.8m.
In June 2026, we won Wales Start-Up of the Year in the Construction & Building Services category. We see it as recognition of what our team has built in a short time, and of the standards we’re trying to keep as the company grows.
Investing in our people
Ateb is still a young business, but we’re not building it around short-term labour. We want people to stay, improve and take pride in the way they work.
That means choosing site teams carefully, investing in training and supervision, and giving people the support to build proper careers in groundworks and civil engineering.
Our operatives are CSCS carded and our plant operators CPCS certified. Across the wider team, Ateb brings together site delivery, engineering, plant, commercial and management experience.
