GPS Machine Control and Site Engineering
We use technology where it gives the project a practical advantage, not for the sake of it. For suitable earthworks, grading and formation, GPS machine control helps plant work to the right levels from the model, improving accuracy, reducing rework and making progress easier to manage. Ateb’s site engineers support this with setting out, survey control and practical checks on site.
We use conventional setting out for smaller sections and work around tight or sensitive areas, choosing the best method to suit the project.

Working from the design model
GPS helps plant work from the approved model, keep closer to the required levels and reduce unnecessary rework.
The operator works from the approved 3D model in the machine. When the design changes, we load the revised information once we receive the updated model and project control.
GPS helps plant work to the model, but it still needs site judgement around it. Our engineers and supervisors check levels, control points and site conditions as the work progresses, so the technology supports the work without replacing the checks that keep it accurate.
Survey and as-built information
Ateb operatives use GPS rover equipment for setting out, spot levels and survey information. This helps keep levels checked on site and gives the project team clearer information on the work carried out.

FAQs
Does GPS machine control replace site engineering? +
No. GPS machine control supports the operator, while our engineering team still verifies the work and uses conventional setting out where that’s the better method.
Do you load revised design information during the project? +
When the design changes, we load revised model information once we receive the updated model and project control, so affected areas are built from the current information.
What do you need to use GPS machine control? +
We need a current 3D design model and the project control details before setting up machine control.
